The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has resumed the collation of results for the Anambra State governorship election, amid growing anticipation across the state.

The State Returning Officer, Prof. Edogah Omoregie, Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, had earlier adjourned the exercise, citing logistical challenges. The collation, however, recommenced early Sunday morning.

Preliminary results from Anambra West and Ihiala Local Government Areas indicate a decisive lead for the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate, Chukwuma Soludo. As the collation progresses, Soludo has continued to dominate, reportedly winning in all 21 local government areas declared so far.

Speaking shortly after the results were announced, a party source described Soludo’s performance as “a clear reflection of the people’s trust and confidence in his leadership.”

Observers at the INEC collation center noted that the process was largely peaceful, with heightened security presence ensuring smooth operations. Meanwhile, opposition parties have called for patience as remaining results are expected to be officially released later today.

The election, closely watched both locally and internationally, marks a critical moment in Anambra politics, setting the stage for the state’s governance and policy direction over the next four years.
