Otunba Segun Showunmi, a prominent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain in Ogun State and convener of The Alternative, has described Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed as “incompetent,” following a statement by the PDP Governors’ Forum.
In a strongly worded reaction, Showunmi accused the Governors’ Forum of attempting to intimidate critics of the Bauchi governor, arguing that Bala Mohammed relies on press releases and committees instead of tangible results to defend his leadership.
“Imagine a man so insecure in his own leadership that he needs an entire Governors’ Forum to bark on his behalf. Real leaders use results to answer critics. Bala Mohammed uses committees and communiqués,” Showunmi said.
He further dismissed the forum’s statement as “a string of insults without a single accomplishment to justify the outrage,” adding that “where capacity is missing, noise becomes strategy.”
The PDP chieftain questioned Bala Mohammed’s track record, saying, “Nigerians are tired of leaders who respond to every criticism with emotional press statements instead of governance.”
He warned that calling others irrelevant does not make one relevant, noting that the Bauchi governor “has struggled to demonstrate solid leadership at the state level, let alone as chairman of a Governors’ Forum.”
Showunmi also took a swipe at Bala Mohammed’s defensive stance, describing him as “the real butterfly fluttering from crisis to crisis” and urging the governor to focus on managing Bauchi State rather than issuing statements.
The PDP chieftain concluded by contrasting Bala Mohammed’s performance with that of Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, saying, “Wike is by miles more capable than you. The results are clear for all to see. You cannot manage a team of just five gentlemen. Shame on you.”
He added, “Relax Bala, you will give an account for the resources of Bauchi State. All the hoof and puff will not save you. Get busy with your job and stop disgracing yourself with incompetence in human form.”
