The Obafemi Awolowo University Muslim Graduates Association (UNIFEMGA), Ogun State chapter, has announced plans to hold its 5th Annual National Agriculture Programme, with a strong focus on boosting food security, improving nutrition, and creating income-generating opportunities for Nigerians.

Scheduled for November 29, 2025, the event will take place at the Crescent Muslim Professionals Hall, Abeokuta, with the theme: “Roles of Individuals in Improving Food Quality, Nutritional Value and Potential Income Generation.”

This year’s central topic is “Home Gardening: A Pathway to Food Security and Economic Empowerment.”

PLATFORM TIMES reports that the gathering is expected to attract leading academics, agricultural experts, and professionals from across the country.

UNIFEMGA disclosed that Prof. Adewale Waheed Salau of the Department of Horticulture, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), will serve as Guest Lecturer, while Prof. Idris Ayinde of the Department of Agricultural Extension will deliver the Keynote Address.

Also expected is Prof. Moruf Lanrewaju Adelekan, the Mogaji Adeen of Owu Kingdom and Baba Adeen of Agbogunleri Mosque, who will serve as Chairman of the occasion.

In a statement signed by Mosur Lamidi, the association said the programme aims to deepen public understanding of agriculture’s role in national development and expose young people to viable opportunities within the sector.

“The initiative is designed to create greater awareness about the importance of agriculture to nation-building,” the statement said.

“It also seeks to encourage youths and the unemployed to explore the vast opportunities available in the agricultural sector while introducing modern techniques that can add value to agricultural practices.”

The Ogun chapter chairman, Bro. Akeem Oladimeji Folorunsho, and the National President, Muhammad Buhari Adebayo, reaffirmed the association’s commitment to promoting practical agricultural knowledge that can help households and communities achieve economic independence.

The annual programme, now in its fifth edition, is one of UNIFEMGA’s flagship interventions aimed at addressing food insecurity and empowering citizens through sustainable agricultural practices
