The Independent National Electoral Commission has intensified preparations for the August 8 Osun State governorship election with a sensitisation visit to the 2026 Batch C National Youth Service Corps Orientation Camp in Ede on Tuesday.

The exercise, organised by the Osun State office of INEC, was aimed at preparing corps members for their roles as ad-hoc election officials and equipping them with the knowledge required to deliver a credible and transparent poll.

Speaking on behalf of the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr Mutiu Olaleke Agboke, the State Training Officer, Mr Olawale Ayanleye, said corps members formed the backbone of INEC’s ad-hoc workforce and were central to the success of the electoral process.

He urged them to discharge their duties with integrity, neutrality and a strong sense of responsibility, noting that their conduct before, during and after the election would significantly shape public confidence in the system.

Ayanleye also stressed strict adherence to INEC guidelines and procedures, adding that professionalism and commitment were essential to achieving a free, fair and peaceful election in the state.

The sensitisation forms part of INEC’s broader stakeholder engagement and capacity-building efforts ahead of the 2026 Osun governorship poll.

Some corps members who participated in the session described the initiative as timely and informative, saying it had better prepared them to contribute meaningfully to the democratic process in Osun State.
