Tension has heightened in Ogun State political circle following allegations by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ifo Local Government stormed the residence of elder statesman, Chief Joju Fadairo, in an alleged attempt to compel him to withdraw his support for PDP chieftain, Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the PDP accused the APC “apex leadership” in Ifo of mounting pressure on the respected community leader following his open declaration of support for Adebutu during a visit to his residence on Monday, June 8, 2026.
According to the party, the alleged visit by APC leaders on Tuesday was aimed at forcing the elder statesman to publicly retract his remarks, a move it described as “political intimidation and desperation ahead of the 2027 general elections.”
The PDP claimed that despite sustained questioning and pressure to clarify or deny his earlier position, Chief Fadairo maintained his stance, repeatedly affirming his support in what it described as a calm but firm response.
The statement quoted him as saying, “Take it the way you have seen it,” before the visitors eventually left.
Describing the development as “a shameful display of panic politics,” the PDP alleged that the ruling party in the state was unsettled by growing defections and endorsements from influential figures.
It further claimed that the APC was increasingly losing “credible and progressive-minded members” and warned that more political realignments were imminent.
“The APC should stop chasing shadows and allow Baba Fadairo to exercise his democratic right. The party should instead confront the internal decay and dissatisfaction within its ranks,” the statement added.
The PDP also alleged that the APC was uncomfortable with what it described as Adebutu’s rising acceptance across political and community structures in the state.
However, the APC in Ogun State is yet to officially respond to the allegations at the time of filing this report.
