Presidency: S-Court clear way for Tinubu swearing-in


Di Supreme Court, on Friday, clear way for di swearing-in of di President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu of di ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, on Monday, May 29.

Also, di apex court, for dia unanimous decision by five-member panel, dismiss as lacking in merit, di appeal wey opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, file to query Tinubu eligibility to contest di presidential election wey hold on February 25.

Dem rule say di appeal, marked: SC/CV/501/2023, bin come before dem in bad faith, and dem stress say di PDP, wey dia candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, come second for di presidential contest, no get locus standi (legal right) to challenge di nomination wey another political party make.

PDP for dia appeal, bin pray say make court void Tinubu candidacy. Dem claim say di Vice President-elect, Senator Kashim Shettima, before di 2023 general elections, bin allow make dem nominate am for more than one constituency.

Dem tell court say Shettima dey nominated twice, for di Borno Central Senatorial seat and for di Vice Presidential position.

PDP maintain say Shettima dual nomination, na gross violation of provisions of Sections 29(1), 33, 35 and 84(1) and (2) of di Electoral Act, 2022, as amended.
