The Vice Chancellor of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Professor Oluwole Banjo, has moved to allay fears and uncertainties following the institution’s transition under federal government adoption.
In a recent interview on a prominent radio station, Professor Banjo assured stakeholders that ongoing academic and administrative activities at TASUED will remain uninterrupted despite the new arrangement.
Addressing concerns surrounding the federal government’s adoption of the university, Professor Banjo acknowledged the mixed reactions among stakeholders but expressed optimism about TASUED’s future.
“I want to believe that the future is bright. The university will continue to grow from strength to strength and will remain one of the most sought-after institutions in Nigeria,” he affirmed.
Regarding speculations about potential job losses, the Vice Chancellor dismissed such fears, emphasizing that TASUED has recently received approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) for additional courses.
This development, according to Professor Banjo, will necessitate the recruitment of more academic personnel once the federal government fully assumes control.
“There is no cause for alarm about job losses. With the new courses approved by the NUC, we will need to employ more lecturers,” he reassured.
In addition to academic developments, Professor Banjo highlighted TASUED’s commitment to equipping students with both academic and vocational skills through its unique dual certification program.
He cited the success story of a recent TASUED graduate who achieved international recognition in the fashion industry, underscoring the university’s role in fostering skill acquisition to combat unemployment.
The Vice Chancellor’s statements are aimed at dispelling uncertainties surrounding TASUED’s transition under federal administration and reinforcing confidence in the institution’s stability and future growth prospects.
As TASUED prepares for this new phase, Professor Banjo reiterated his commitment to maintaining the university’s academic excellence and enhancing its standing in Nigeria’s educational landscape.
