Former Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, has dismissed as false and politically motivated, reports linking him to a coalition of opposition parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by his media aide, Yusuph Olaniyonu, Saraki described the report as a “jaundiced opinion” and a “fabrication” aimed at misrepresenting his political stance and creating confusion among the public.

The former Kwara State governor clarified that he is not part of any ongoing coalition talks, contrary to claims circulating in a recent media publication.

He accused opposition elements in his home state of orchestrating the rumour, complete with doctored quotes and a manipulated graphic to mislead Nigerians.

“It should be noted that the reporter of the story quoted unnamed sources and faceless individuals who he claimed attended a meeting with Dr. Saraki,” the statement read.

“He also sought the opinions of people who he did not tell the details of the story he wanted them to respond to.”

Olaniyonu added that the publication likely stemmed from a misinterpretation of Saraki’s silence on recent political manoeuvres, stressing that Saraki is known for being deliberate and measured in both public and private conversations.

“Anybody who has associated closely with Dr. Saraki will know that either in the public or private space, he does not speak carelessly and in a manner that can expose him to ridicule,” the statement continued.

He maintained that Saraki had no links to the content of the said publication or the doctored graphics in circulation, describing them as part of a broader strategy by the Kwara opposition to malign his reputation.

The media office therefore urged the public to disregard the report and remain vigilant against politically motivated misinformation.

This denial comes amid growing speculation and political recalibrations ahead of the 2027 elections, with several political figures being linked to various alliances and coalitions forming across party lines.
