Senate Southeast mourns Diamond Bank’s Pascal Dozie

The Southeast Caucus in the Senate has shared its deep sadness over Dr Pascal Dozie’s death, former Diamond Bank Chairman and a key figure in Nigeria’s financial world.

In a statement released on Wednesday in Abuja, signed by caucus chairman Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, the lawmakers hailed Dozie as a banking expert and respected economist.

“Dr Pascal Dozie was an icon and a foresighted economist who chaired not only Diamond Bank but also MTN, one of the world’s leading communication companies,” the statement read. “He was one of the steady hands in the economic circle that shaped the macroeconomic landscape of Nigeria and Africa.”

Abaribe praised Dozie’s legacy. He called him a trailblazer in banking, a vital contributor to national growth, and a proud son of Igboland. The senator also highlighted Dozie’s role as an honest leader in finance, noting his loss will be keenly felt.

The caucus offered its sympathies to Dozie’s family, the banking sector, the Imo State government and people, and the entire nation.
