Nigerian singer Raoul Nkeng-Njeng, popularly known as Skales’ 2015 hit song “Shake Body” has become popular again 10 years after it was first released.

The sudden buzz around the song is mostly because of new DJ remixes, especially one by Dutch DJ Onderkoffer.

Skales shared this remix on music platforms and in just 10 hours, it got nearly 200,000 streams without being added to any playlists.

Another reason the song is trending again is because of 17-year-old football star Lamine Yamal of FC Barcelona.

Yamal’s dance to “Shake Body” went viral on TikTok, helping a new generation discover the song.

Skales is not the only Nigerian artist to experience this kind of comeback.

Other songs like Mike Ejeagha’s “Gwo Gwo Gwo Ngwo” and CKay’s “Love Nwantiti” have also become TikTok hits years after they were released.

Skales took to social media to share how surprised and thankful he was.

He wrote, “This is crazy! With the momentum of Shakebody trending again, I decided to officially release this DJ remix I heard in Europe last year and in 10 hours, it’s already almost 200k streams with no form of playlist support, that’s craaazy … thank you Jesus !!! God indeed works in mysterious ways.”

Fans online are also reacting with excitement and joy.

A TikTok user, Onizwise, wrote, “This when God remember Skales go remember me and you.”

Another TikToker, Meneer Makrizza, was shocked that Yamal even knew the song.

He asked, “But my question is how did this Yamal boy remember this song?”

A user called Meme Coin Investment added, “I’m Happy for Skales.”

A user, Guappo, wrote, “Skales don try honestly, he deserves dis. I don’t know why d industry black balled him just lyk dat.”

Another user, Kay stated, “He made more than that the song as at now gas 40 million streams just on Spotify and 1 million streams is about 4k dolls so that’s like 160k dolls.”
