Presidency Apologizes Over Errors In Federal Appointments List

The Presidency has issued a formal apology following errors discovered in the recently released list of federal appointments aimed at countering allegations of regional bias in President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

The controversy surrounding the appointments gained traction as opposition figures, including Senator Ali Ndume of Borno South, criticized the President for allegedly disregarding the federal character principle.

In a candid interview with Arise Television, Ndume accused the President of disproportionately favoring appointees from his native South West region.

In response, the Presidency had unveiled a list detailing appointments across various geopolitical zones.

However, the omission of key figures, notably the President’s Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, from the disclosed roster fueled further scrutiny and criticism.

Critics argue that such omissions underscored existing disparities, particularly in representation from the South East.

In a bid to address public concerns, Sunday Dare, the Special Adviser on Media & Public Communication to the President, acknowledged the discrepancies and issued an apology via social media.

“We have noticed a number of errors in the list of appointments tweeted. We are sorry.

“We will provide an updated list later. Thank you,” Dare stated, emphasizing the administration’s commitment to rectifying the oversight.
