Media personality, author, and entrepreneur, Toke Makinwa is no stranger to living her truth.

Known for her candour and bold lifestyle, the 40-year-old recently opened up about her personal journey with cosmetic surgery, self-image, and the realities of being single and childless at 40 during an episode of the Tea with Tay podcast.

The divorced diva shared how she believes her relationship with God is one of humour, grace, and understanding—even in the midst of drastic life choices.

“God is amused by me. I honestly want to be a fly on a wall in heaven when I get there. I think God loves me so much because I crack him up. I wake up today and decide to bleach my skin, then after a while I say to myself, ‘I’m bored of bleaching my skin, I’m going back to my natural colour.’ God understands and gives me so much grace,” she explained.

“Then again, I wake up another morning and decide that I want to be curvy, so I go ahead and have surgery to make my butts bigger… and he permits me. When I get to heaven old and grey, I believe that when my tape is played, all the heavenly beings would burst into laughter. They would know I lived my life.”

Addressing the realities of being unmarried and without a child at 40, Toke Makinwa revealed a truth many women silently share.

“Turning 40, childless and unmarried—that’s not exactly where I wanted to be,” she said. “If I had gotten married five years ago, I think I would be divorced again. The growth keeps happening. I’m not done yet with myself.”
