Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has approved the appointment of 168 political aides in a sweeping move aimed at revitalising governance and enhancing inclusive leadership in the state.

The appointments, announced on Tuesday in a statement signed by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, span various categories of political aides including Principal Special Assistants, Senior Special Assistants, Special Assistants, and Personal Assistants.

According to Gidado, the latest appointments are part of Governor Mohammed’s ongoing commitment to deepen participatory governance, promote grassroots engagement, and deliver improved service across Bauchi State.

Of the newly appointed aides, 63 will serve as Personal Assistants, 60 as Senior Special Assistants, and 38 as Special Assistants, all focused on political and community relations.

In addition, five individuals have been named Principal Special Assistants on Political and Community Relations, one as Principal Special Assistant on Pension Matters, and one as Senior Special Assistant on Labour Matters.

“The newly appointed aides, many of whom are former officeholders at various levels of government, were selected based on merit, political pedigree, and leadership track records,” Gidado stated.

He noted that the governor expects the aides to bring renewed vigour to his administration and align with his vision for a more effective and people-centred government.

“This administration is intensifying efforts to deliver democratic dividends to the people of Bauchi. The appointments are a strategic move to consolidate on past achievements and build a legacy of good governance, inclusivity and sustainable development,” he added.

Governor Mohammed has charged the appointees to see their roles as a call to greater service, urging them to demonstrate loyalty, dedication and a strong commitment to the welfare of the people.

The development marks another step in the governor’s second-term strategy to broaden political participation and strengthen institutional capacity across the state.
