The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), on Wednesday, said it shone brilliantly at the 2025 Federal Public Service Innovation Competition, where it secured both the first and third places out of 155 entries from Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
The remarkable feat was celebrated at an award ceremony in Abuja on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, with the announcement made by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HOSF), Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack.
The NDIC’s winning entry, a digital carpooling application developed by the Carpooling Team, earned the coveted first-place prize of N5 million. The innovative platform aims to reduce commuting costs for federal workers, reflecting the Corporation’s commitment to creating practical, cost-effective solutions.
In addition, a second NDIC team clinched third place with the Perfoma platform, a digital tool designed to enhance staff productivity and streamline administrative processes. The platform serves as an online secretariat that facilitates document creation and tracking while measuring task output to monitor staff performance, winning them N3 million.
In her address, Mrs. Walson-Jack highlighted that “Innovation is one of the six key pillars of the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021–2025 (FCSSIP 25)” and commended all participating agencies for contributing to the vision of a dynamic and efficient public service.
Representing the Managing Director/CEO, Mr. Bello Hassan, Mrs. Gwa Uduwak Zachary, Director of the Strategy Development Department, praised the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) for maintaining the tradition of innovation. She also recognized NDIC’s teams for their exceptional accomplishments, underscoring the Corporation’s dedication to excellence, problem-solving, and forward-thinking public service delivery.
Mr. Bello Hassan, during a meeting with the award-winning teams, expressed pride in their achievement, stating, “This double recognition speaks to the innovative spirit and professionalism at NDIC. Our teams have once again shown our leadership in using technology and creativity to address real-world challenges.”
The NDIC’s success in this competition, organized by the OHCSF, further solidifies its commitment to integrating innovation into its operational culture. It also aligns with national goals on public service reform, digital transformation, and cost-effective governance.
The NDIC continues to support and scale innovative solutions aimed at improving service delivery across the civil service and contributing to national development.
