In a landmark step toward advancing education in Nigeria, the Teacher Aid Initiative (TAI), in partnership with the TY Danjuma Foundation, has launched a three-month, project-based STEM training program for 100 public secondary school teachers in Nasarawa State. The initiative is designed to equip educators with modern tools and innovative teaching methodologies to better engage students in the critical fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

The program commenced with an intensive two-day immersive session that brought together the selected teachers and key figures from the education sector. Notable attendees included representatives from the Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board (NSUBEB), the Nasarawa State Ministry of Education, the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), the Vice Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, and other distinguished educational stakeholders.

Tersoo Akula, Program Officer for Education at the TY Danjuma Foundation, highlighted the importance of the initiative, stating, “Investing in teachers is key to unlocking students’ potential.”

The training aligns with the TY Danjuma Foundation’s mission to foster sustainable development through education. By immersing teachers in hands-on experiences and providing them with innovative STEM teaching tools, the program aims to transform classrooms into centers of curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving.

Adeola Ojeleye, Founder of the Teacher Aid Initiative, emphasized the broader vision behind the program: “Our goal goes beyond just training teachers. We want to ignite a passion for STEM in students and that begins with lighting that same fire in their teachers.”

This initiative is poised to significantly enhance the quality of STEM education in Nasarawa State, creating a ripple effect that could inspire a new generation of scientists, engineers, and innovators.
