Sex trafficking trial to begin on Monday

The sex trafficking trial of embattled music mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs will commence on Monday, May 5, 2025, with the selection of a jury.

Diddy pleaded not guilty to sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation for prostitution and recently rejected a plea deal offered by federal prosecutors.

The confirmation for the trial date took place on Thursday before US District Judge Arun Subramanian, who is presiding over the trial in New York.

The selection of the jury, called voir dire, involves questioning potential jurors and will be carried out in a way that preserves their privacy, including any disclosures of experiences with sexual or domestic abuse.

Judge Subramanian seeks a jury of 12 and six alternates seated within three days.

Diddy is facing several allegations of sexual misconduct, all of which he has denied.

His defence attorney, Marc Agnifilo, revealed that the plea deal was discussed before his client chose to reject it.

According to Assistant US Attorney Maurene Comey, Combs would have been offered a lighter sentence than if found guilty at trial on all charges.
