MAPOLY Alumni Set For Convention, NEC Elections May 24

The Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Alumni Association (MAPALUM) has announced plans to host its biennial convention and general meeting on Saturday, May 24, 2025.

The event will hold at the Academic Planning Building Board Hall, Ojere campus of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta.

In a statement issued by the National President of the association, Mr Ezekiel Obasanya, the convention will feature the election of a new National Executive Council (NEC) by delegates from both local and international chapters.

Obasanya noted that representatives from Lagos, Abeokuta, Remo, the United Kingdom and Europe, as well as America and North America, are expected to participate in the convention.

The event will be graced by key figures from the institution and beyond.

The Rector of MAPOLY, Arc. Dr Koyejo Jolaoso, will deliver the keynote address, while the Chairman of the Governing Council, Prof. Kamal Balogun, will serve as the Special Guest of Honour.

The Chairman of the day is Hajji Adebisi Bada, Executive Chairman of Surry Bee Petroleum Ltd, while the Rector of D.S. Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic, Itori-Ewekoro, Ogun State, Dr Goke Rauf, will speak on the theme: “Elevating MAPOLY’s Legacy through Alumni Partnership.”

The Royal Father of the occasion is the Olota of Ota Kingdom, HRH Oba Prof. Abdul-Kabir Adeyemi Obalanlege.

Among key issues to be addressed at the convention are the proposed Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) alumni hostel project—designed to accommodate 1,200 male and female students—the completion of the Alumni Centre, as well as initiatives on entrepreneurship, skills acquisition, and mentorship programmes for students.

Expected dignitaries include Mr Olalekan Otun, Chairman, Committee for Distinguished Alumni (CODA) and Executive Director, Minds and Brains Ltd; Arch. Samson Popoola, Executive Chairman, SKP Services Ltd; veteran broadcaster and former GM of NTA Katsina, Hajj Ayinde Soaga; Chairman, Abeokuta North Local Government, Mr Lanre Oyegbola-Sodipo; Ogun State Special Adviser on Youth Development, Hon. Olamide Lawal; Chief Tunde Odeyemi, MD, Kabat Communication Ltd; Mr Bola Fashina, Chief of Staff to Chairman, National Quality Control; and Omooba Segun Adewale, MD, 24/7 IMC Ltd.

The convention is expected to chart a new course for the association while strengthening partnerships aimed at elevating MAPOLY’s legacy.
