It was glitz, laughter, and heartfelt tribute as veteran radio host, actor, and entertainer Yaw kicked off the maiden edition of “An Evening With…” on Saturday, May 3, honoring none other than Dame Abimbola Fashola—former First Lady of Lagos State and longtime supporter of the Nigerian entertainment industry.

Hosted at the iconic Terra Kulture in Victoria Island, Lagos, the event was the first in a new series designed to spotlight and celebrate exceptional individuals who have championed entertainers—especially in the world of comedy. The evening doubled as a glamorous 60th birthday celebration for Dame Fashola, who was surrounded by family, friends, and her husband, former Lagos State Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN).

The star-studded evening saw appearances from industry heavyweights including singer Korede Bello, Tosin Martins, Dezign Collins, and comedy greats like Tee A, Senator, Dan D’Humorous, Forever, Larry J, Mc Monica, BowJoint, Lepacious Bose, among others. The crowd enjoyed an intimate night of performances, tributes, and nostalgia, all wrapped in warmth and laughter.

Yaw, the brain behind the initiative, shared his vision: “I’m grateful for the success of this maiden edition. A friend, Olaiya, (UncleSpeed) reached out to me and shared his thoughts on celebrating those that have helped the industry and I said to him, Why not… So I set the ball rolling, We’re just getting started. ‘An Evening With…’ is going to be a quarterly event. Watch out—we’ll keep celebrating those who uplift our industry.”

With the perfect blend of culture, comedy, and class, “An Evening With…” sets the tone for a refreshing tradition in Nigeria’s entertainment calendar—honoring the pillars behind the spotlight.
