In a surprising political development, the three senators elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State have publicly declared their support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid ahead of the 2027 presidential poll.

The senators—Kamarudeen Oyewumi (Osun West), Olubiyi Ajagunla (Osun Central), and Francis Fadahunsi (Osun East)—made the endorsement known through a joint statement on Wednesday, following a closed-door meeting held on Tuesday.

The lawmakers cited President Tinubu’s record on governance, economic reforms, and infrastructure development as key reasons for their backing.

They also praised the current administration for what they described as visible improvements in national security and a notable reduction in food prices.

“This endorsement is not just symbolic — it reflects our deep confidence in President Tinubu’s ability to deliver on the promise of democracy,” the statement read.

The senators affirmed their unity, stressing that the Osun PDP Senators’ Caucus stood “united and unwavering” in supporting the president’s “visionary and progressive agenda.”

In a related development, the Minister of Works, David Umahi, revealed that all governors in the South-East region are set to endorse Tinubu’s re-election. Umahi highlighted the increasing federal attention and infrastructure projects in the South-East under Tinubu’s administration and urged opposition leaders in the region to align with the president for regional progress.

The endorsements from key PDP figures in Osun and the South-East represent a growing trend of cross-party support for Tinubu as he prepares for the 2027 elections, signaling potential shifts in Nigeria’s political landscape.
