Chris Brown, an American R&B musician, was granted bail on Wednesday in an assault case on the condition that he pay a £5 million guarantee to a UK court.

According to the judge, under the terms of his bond, the 36-year-old Grammy-winning Brown can continue his planned worldwide tour, which begins on June 8 in Amsterdam.

The judge further stated that if the artist fails to return to the UK, where he has a series of concerts starting June 15, the £5 million will be forfeited.

According to reports, that Brown, who was not in court for the bail hearing, is also due to play dates in Europe, including France, as well as the United States in 2025.

He was accused last week with “grievous bodily harm with intent” in connection with an incident in which the victim was reportedly hit multiple times with a bottle before being chased, punched, and kicked.

The claimed attack occurred on February 19, 2023, in a nightclub in Hanover Square, London, when Brown was on tour in the United Kingdom.

Police afterwards detained him in the early hours of May 13 at a five-star hotel in the northwestern city of Manchester after he reportedly flew in by private jet.

Judge Tony Baumgartner at Southwark Crown Court in London, while ordering that he could be freed on bail, also stipulated that he should surrender his passport if he is not travelling.

Baumgartner said the singer must live at a specific address known to the court and is not permitted to visit the nightclub where the alleged assault took place or contact the alleged victim Abraham Diah.
