As part of the efforts to satisfy all the requirements of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) as a Higher National Diploma (HND) awarding institution in Film and Multi-Media Studies, Department of Mass Communication, Ogun State Institute of Technilogy (OGITECH), Igbesa, has through its students, completed shooting of first movie production.
Hailing the lecturing staff of the department led by their Acting Head, Prince Hammed Oyelaja Gbadamosi, as well as the teeming students who all stormed the movie shooting location at Agroterra Resort, Joga Orile, Ogun West, together, the Rector, Dr. Abiodun Oluseye, who also paid a visit to the location as a show of support, said he was happy to see what he met on ground.
” I’m very happy to be here with you; and to see what I met on ground, ” the Rector enthused, before adding that, Ogitech was already setting the pace with its first set of students of Film and Multi-Media Studies shooting a standard movie and thereby exposing the student populace to a lucrative career path they could pursue after their graduation from the institution.
With the Deen of School of Communication and Information Technology, Mr. Jamiu Ajobiewe who also visited standing beside him, the ebullient Rector, thereafter, urged the students, many of whom he predicted would become movie stars in no distant future, to make sure they give back to the institution that molded them when stardom sets into their careers. “It is always good to give back to your source of success,” the Rector emphasized while engaging the students in a pep talk.
In his trade-mark generous mode, the Rector who sat with the students, ate and drank with them at a lounge in the resort where the movie was being shot, gave a sum of #250,000.00 (Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira) to the students to enjoy themselves later in the evening after a long day of shooting. And the students could not hide their joy at the good gesture of their amiable Rector as the seasoned administator took his leave.
Titled: “Struggles Within”, the storyline of the movie revolves around a young lady who suffered Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) as a result of a very ugly incident that happened to her early in life. And with professional touch and guidance from lecturers who were fully on ground to ensure every role was well interpreted and every shot was well taken, the movie shoot by the students was highly commendable.
The movie which is billed to be released on YouTube in a couple of days promises to sell OGITECH as an institution where future movie stars would be dIscovered, continuosly, for the ever growing movie industry in Nigeria. And with the well grounded lecturers in diverse communication field that the department parades, Nigerians should expect nothing short of standard from them.
Some of the lecturers, apart from the H.O.D., who were fully on ground with the students for the 4 days the shooting of the movie took at Joga Orile from Friday,16th May to Tuesday, 20th May, include Messrs. Timothy Omolaso, Kehinde Tajudeen Oladipupo, Ridwan Bola Mahmud, Justice Nwokonko, Ridwan Ajibose, Saheed Ojubanire and Mrs. Celina Omoyemi Lawal.
