Ayodeji Akinde’s journey from a music-filled Lagos upbringing to a burgeoning international music career is a testament to passion and perseverance. Growing up in a large family immersed in the vibrant sounds of the Cherubim & Seraphim Church, Akinde’s early experiences in the choir and playing drums laid the foundation for his musical aspirations.

Despite a move to the United States in 2016 and an initial pursuit of a different career path, Akinde felt an undeniable pullback to his musical roots. This led him to a pivotal return to Nigeria, determined to forge a career from his lifelong passion.

His debut single in 2018 marked a turning point, igniting a fire within him.

However, navigating the Nigerian music scene as an independent artiste presented numerous challenges, including financial constraints and logistical hurdles. Akinde recalls a particularly difficult video-shoot hampered by a flat tyre, underscoring the need for a strong support system.

Drawing deeply from his Yoruba heritage, Akinde’s music blends Afro-Fusion with his cultural roots, evident in his rhythms, lyrics, and overall energy. He approaches songwriting intuitively, allowing melodies to guide his message, often drawing from personal experiences and a desire to inspire others.

Akinde’s core message is one of hope and the pursuit of dreams. “I’m a dream chaser, and I want people to know that dreams do come true,” he states. His authentic and uplifting artistry has resonated with fans, as seen in his music video for “Smoke.”

Looking to the future, Akinde is currently working on new music and envisions himself as a leading voice in African music, aiming to stand alongside Afrobeat icons. “I believe I’m meant for greatness,” he confidently asserts, driven by a desire to represent his culture and inspire others to chase their dreams.
