Fashionistas and fragrances enthusiasts, select media representatives were treated to a special experiential session for the debut of Saudade, an artisanal scent created in collaboration with renowned Spanish perfumer Botanicae.
The event was at the instance of Seinde Signature, a top notch niche fragrance curator, to mark a year of philanthropy and artistic excellence. The celebration took place at the Gelato and Coffee University, and featured an immersive experimental workshop, artisan gelato tasting, and a showcase of sensory storytelling.
Founded by visionary entrepreneur, Olaseinde Olufemi Olusola, Seinde Signature launched its #Seinde365 initiative in May 2024 to commemorate his 62nd birthday, aiming to elevate awareness of niche perfumery while giving back to the Nigerian community. Over 540 bottles of premium fragrances have been distributed across Nigeria, emphasizing impact over recognition. His efforts have propelled a 300 percent increase in public understanding of niche fragrances.
This year’s event coincided with Mr. Olusola’s 63rd birthday, symbolizing a new chapter in his mission to elevate taste, culture, and artistic expression. “Niche perfumery is an art. With Project #Seinde365, we bring that art to the streets, the press, and the people.”
“Saudade,” a scent rooted in nostalgia and storytelling. Olusola highlighted the biological and cultural significance of olfactory development, noting, “Before a child can see, they recognize their mother through scent. Developing your olfactory sense can light up your world in ways you never imagined.”
Seinde Signature’s partnership with Botanicae marks a milestone as “Saudade” is the first exclusive perfume of the Spanish house launched in Nigeria—and possibly the world. The perfumer Salvador Montesinos, CEO of The Parfum Atelier, shared that Nigeria’s vibrant culture inspired the creation. He described the scent as a lively blend of juicy pineapple, saffron, fig leaves, woody notes, finished with creamy vanilla and white chocolate—designed to be energetic, rooted in tradition, yet modern and expressive.
