Rihanna’s father, Ronald Fenty, has passed on at the age of 70 following a brief illness.
News of Fenty’s demise was reported by Starcom Network News, a radio station in Rihanna’s native Barbados.
As of press time, the official cause and exact date of death have not yet been disclosed.
According to the aforementioned news outlet, Fenty was surrounded by family members at the time of his death.
Rihanna had a rocky relationship with her dad, with the two feuding on multiple occasions, and she revealed that his struggle with crack and alcohol addictions negatively impacted her childhood.
The ‘Umbrella’ crooner disclosed that her dad’s substance abuse issues led to confrontations between her parents that sometimes turned physical.
However, Rihanna and her father seemed to have patched things up in recent years, as Fenty shared in 2022 after the announcement of the artist’s pregnancy that they had been in touch.
Fenty added that he was ‘over the moon’ over the news.
