Nigeria’s popular musical group ‘Danfo Drivers’ will embark on a scheduled musical tour of Canada in December 2025. The group is led by Jimoh Olotu (a.k.a. Mountain Black).
The ‘Danfo Drivers’ was founded by two Ajegunle commercial bus drivers, Oghenemaro Emeofa (a.k a Mad Melon) and Jimoh Olotu (ak.a.Mountain Black), who had stormed the Nigeria music arena when they released their hit album titled I Am A Danfo Driver Suo in 2003. Unfortunately, Mad Melon died of an undisclosed illness in September 2019, sixteen years after the release of their first album.
The Canada musical tour by the ‘Danfo Drivers’ would be one major international outing after the death of Mad Melon as the international engagement would take them to seven Canadian cities with the first performance in Toronto on December 5, 2025.
This would be followed by a London tour on December 6, December 12 in Ottawa and December 13 in Montreal. The group would shift to Vancouver on December 19 and Calgary on December 20, with the last outing scheduled for December 27, 2025, in Edmonton.
According to Rachael Nwafor, Chief Executive Officer of Alberta Ice Promotion, owners of the record label where the ‘Danfo Drivers’ is currently signed, the Canada musical tour is at the invitation of Canada-based Elite Entertainment group.
“A good number of Afrobeat fans in Canada are already looking forward to the musical tour as they feel nostalgic for the high performance of the ‘Danfo Drivers’ duo of Mad Melon and Mountain Black back in the days before the unceremonious passage of Mad Melon some six years ago,” she noted.
