ICAN president outlines vision for Calabar District Society

Mallam Haruna Yahaya, the national president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria ICAN has tasked the new executive of the ICAN Calabar and District Society to uphold the virtues that define the organization.

Mallam Yahaya gave the charge in Calabar during the investiture of Dr. Glory Effiong, the Accountant General of Cross River State as the 13th Chairman of ICAN Calabar and District Society.

Yahaya, whose address was presented by Dr. Yemi Sani mandated the new chairman to approach the mandate with humility and a deep sense of duty.

“You have been entrusted with a responsibility that goes beyond office, it’s a call to serve, innovate and lead.

“Uphold the virtue of integrity, accuracy and excellence that define ICAN. Be bold and always place that interest of your members and profession above all else”, he said.

In his speech, the Cross River State governor Senator Bassey Otu said the state is proud of Dr. Glory Effiong.

Governor Otu who was represented by the Speaker of the State Assembly Elvert Ayambem said Dr. Effiong has revamped and remodelled the financial system of the state.

The governor said her new position calls for more work and expressed confidence that she will take the district to greater heights.

In her acceptance speech, Dr. Glory Effiong described her investiture as a collective mandate.

She said her tenure will be marked by three core pillars which is professional excellence, public value and legacy infrastructure.

“This is a collective mandate that calls on each of us to elevate the standards of our profession and expand its impact on the growth and prosperity of Cross River State.

“Together we shall broaden the frontiers of our profession, lay the path for future generations and leave an indelible legacy in the state”, she said.
