The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Osun State, Dr. Mutiu Agboke, has issued a stern warning to electoral officers and staff of the commission against acts of indiscipline and sabotage ahead of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) and the 2026 governorship election in the state.

Speaking during an engagement session held at the INEC State Office in Osogbo on Tuesday, Agboke reminded Electoral Officers (EOs), Assistant Electoral Officers (AEOs), and heads of units at the state office of their critical roles in the success of the upcoming electoral processes.

He said the online registration would commence on August 18, 2025, while the physical registration is scheduled to begin on August 25, 2025, across the 30 local government offices and the state headquarters. Two registration centres will be set up in each location.

He warned against crowd mismanagement, political interference, extortion, and other unethical practices.

“There shall be no room for indolence or lackadaisical attitude. This is the time to work. Are you ready?” he asked the officers.

While expressing confidence in the readiness of the staff, the REC did not mince words about the consequences of misconduct. .

He warned that any officer found sabotaging the process would be prosecuted.

“We shall not hesitate to prosecute whoever flouts the guidelines. This is not the time to use the exercise for selfish interests, nepotism or commercial gain.

“The commission will provide all necessary materials, including allowances. Best practices must be followed,” he said.

Agboke, however, commended the dedication shown so far by the commission’s staff and urged them to maintain the momentum.

“I am proud of you all. Let us work together for success. No laziness, no truancy, no lateness. Watch your health, eat well, and prepare to give your best to the CVR process,” he concluded.
