For Chidera-Treasure, the crown of a beauty queen has come with great expectations and responsibilities.
Emerging as the winner of Miss E.B.O.N.Y Ambassador UK Innovative Pageant recently, she is poised to go further in her education and career, using the platform as a springboard to make more impact in the society.
Beautiful and captivating 17-year-old Chidera could be described as the quintessential Miss E.B.O.N.Y Ambassador. Born on August 23, 2007 in Norway, she grew up in Nuremberg, Germany, but now resides in England and has not lost touch with her Nigerian roots.
Chidera’s journey to stardom and influence as a beauty queen began in an unexpected, serendipitous way. It was her first competition and she won the pageant without much ado.
Although, she said her mother and aunt were surprised she won, Chidera noted that she was confident throughout the competition and it went a long way in helping her win.
“My mum was very much surprised as neither of us was expecting me to win anything, let alone the crown. I believe she and my aunt cried alongside each other out of joy. Whereas my friends were very supportive and thrilled for me winning, especially after I had posted a few of the moments on my social media platforms,” she said.
Asked how she got into the competition and what stood her out, the beauty queen explained: “My dance organizer/owner called my mum the night of the last day to apply to the Miss E.B.O.N.Y Ambassador competition, and convinced her that I should partake in it. I believe that the main reason I emerged as the winner was due to my confidence. A lot of the girls came more prepared for the competition in comparison to me, due to my having exams prior to the competition.”
Chidera also focuses on winning in the classroom, where she is a standout student with A’ Level subjects like Economics, Business, History etc. She plans to progress to the university to study criminology, with forensic psychology, in hopes of gaining a criminology degree, and studying law.
Talking about her goals and pet projects, the queen enthused: “In future, I may partake in the Miss Nigeria UK, but currently my main focus is representing the Miss E.B.O.N.Y Ambassador UK Innovative Pageant the best I can. My project will dwell on orphanages in Nigeria. I’m trying to raise money through my Gofundme to fund my campaign to help children back home.”
Chidera also has goals, which might be classified as short-term and long-term: “The major short term goal is to raise as much money as I can through my Gofundme, using my social media platforms. The long term goal is to use this experience as a stepping stone to enable me go into other projects and opportunities in the beauty industry.”
The Miss E.B.O.N.Y Ambassador UK Innovative Pageant, founded by Irene Eribo Ani, has grown over the last 10 years as a platform for cultural expression, leadership, empowerment and unity.
