Abure Meets Wike Amid Labour Party Crisis

The factional National Chairman of the Labour Party, Julius Abure, met with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, in Abuja on Sunday.

The meeting took place at Wike’s private residence and comes at a time of renewed internal crisis within the Labour Party.

Although the purpose of the meeting was not disclosed, it followed shortly after Abure’s faction asked the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to resign for allegedly aligning with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition.

The Labour Party has been experiencing internal wrangling in recent months, with divisions growing between supporters of Abure and Obi.

Photographs from the meeting show Abure and Wike in a relaxed atmosphere, sparking speculations about possible political realignments ahead of the 2027 elections.

Neither Wike nor Abure has officially commented on the outcome of the meeting.
