ValueJet recently launched a new direct flight route from Lagos to Banjul, The Gambia, positioning itself as the first choice for travelers seeking an affordable gateway to West Africa’s “hidden gem.” The move is set to boost regional connectivity, fostering both tourism and vital economic ties.

ValueJet’s Managing Director and Accountable Manager, Captain Omololu Majekodunmi, hailed the new Lagos-Banjul route as a “milestone in regional connectivity.” He emphasized the airline’s commitment to promoting travel options and strengthening bonds within West Africa. “We are proud to play a part in bridging distances and fostering closer economic ties between the people and businesses of Nigeria, The Gambia, and beyond, opening new opportunities for trade and tourism,” Capt. Majekodunmi stated.

The new service, which commenced on May 15, 2025, makes ValueJet the sole airline offering direct flights between Lagos and Banjul. This eliminates the need for layovers, a significant incentive for many Nigerian travelers. Flights operate twice weekly, departing from the Murtala Muhammed International Airport’s new terminal at 9:00 pm every Thursday and Sunday, arriving in Banjul by 11:30pm local time. Return flights depart Banjul at 12:30am on Mondays and Fridays, touching down in Lagos by 5:00am.

The airline anticipates that the new route will not only cater to tourists but also to entrepreneurs looking to explore new avenues for commerce and collaboration between Nigeria, The Gambia, and the wider West African region.
