The Lagos State Technical and Vocational Education Board (LASTVEB) held the Lagos Youth Skills Day 2025 celebration during the week at Ikeja, Lagos. The impactful event, coordinated by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Technical and Vocational Education, Comrade Giwa Murtala Moore, brought together stakeholders, students, and private sector players in a renewed effort to promote practical skills acquisition among Nigerian youths.

One of the highlights of the event was the presence of Hon. Dr. Saheed Mosadoluwa Abdullahi, the Chief Executive Officer of Harmony Garden and Estate Development Ltd, who was specially invited to speak. Widely celebrated for his impressive strides in the real estate sector, Dr. Mosadoluwa shared his inspiring personal story, one that began humbly as a bricklayer and gradually transformed into becoming a top real estate entrepreneur.

His testimony served as a powerful motivation to the young audience, as he encouraged them to embrace vocational and technical training as a pathway to financial independence and sustainable success.

Dr. Mosadoluwa’s company, Harmony Gardens, is behind landmark projects such as the Lekki Aviation Town Estate, which has gained recognition for setting new standards in quality and innovation within the real estate industry.

In recognition of his consistent contributions to youth development and technical education, LASTVEB presented an Award of Recognition to Hon. Dr. Saheed Mosadoluwa. The award highlighted his unwavering support for youth empowerment through skills acquisition and mentorship.

The Executive Secretary of LASTVEB, Mrs. Moronke Azeez, while addressing attendees, stressed the importance of private sector collaboration in the advancement of skill-based education in Lagos State. She noted that interest in technical colleges across the state is rising, thanks to growing awareness of the value of vocational skills in today’s economy.

Dr. Mosadoluwa, in his appreciation remarks, expressed gratitude for the honour and reaffirmed his commitment to partnering with initiatives that create real opportunities for young people.

“This award is not just a recognition of my journey, but a call to action for more private sector leaders to invest in the future of our youth. Skills change lives,” he stated.

The event ended on a hopeful note, as stakeholders called for stronger partnerships between government institutions and business leaders to prepare Nigerian youths for a prosperous and self-sufficient future.
