President Bola Tinubu and the Federal Housing Authorities (FHA) have been commended for delivering 100 housing units to medical doctors and other professionals at the FHA Estate, Ajoda, Ibadan, Oyo State.

The Alajia of Ajia in Ona Ara Local Government, Ibadan, Oba Akinsola Oladepo, gave the commendation in his address at the commissioning of the project.

According to the traditional ruler, the housing scheme would bring development to the area, and also provide homes for 100 families.

Oba Oladepo also made advocacy for enlistment of common Nigerians in the housing scheme so that they would benefit from the initiative.

“We have to thank our Almighty God for giving us today. At the same time, we thank the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for a job well done.

“This is truly a ‘Renewed Hope’. We appreciate the Federal Government for a job well done. And we are looking forward to more projects in our city.”

Managing Director/Chief Executive of Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Oyetunde Ojo, assured Nigerians that the Tinubu administration would make affordable houses available to all categories of Nigerians.

He stated that the administration has concluded arrangements to incorporate the informal sector to benefit from the mass housing project, in line with Tinubu’s directives.

The housing project, according to him, was initiated in 2018, and was geared towards providing a total of 1,000 housing units, with the first phase now successfully completed.

The ceremony also featured the handover of keys to the new owners, with many being medical practitioners from the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan.

Ojo clarified that the FHA is actively working on the inclusion of young professionals and artisans in the housing scheme.

“We’re looking at allocating 100 to 150 units to the informal sector. We want to make it clear that everyone deserves a home.”

He also outlined plans for studio apartments to accommodate young Nigerians, who are just starting their lives.

Prof Adeniyi Adenipekun, who spoke on behalf of the subscribers, said: “We still have many doctors and health workers who need homes. When this is completed, subscribers will exceed expectations.”
