Ijebu-Ode Local Government Area of Ogun State has announced a seven-day curfew for the observance of “Oro”

The Executive Chairman of the LGA, Hon. Dare Alebiosu, who made the announcement in a statement, said it was in observance of traditional rites.

Alebiosu said: “The general public is hereby informed that there will be a daily Oro curfew across Ijebu Ode Local Government Area for seven consecutive days, beginning from Wednesday, 30th July to Tuesday, 5th August 2025.

“The curfew will be in effect daily from 12:00 midnight to 4:00 a.m during this period.

“This restriction is in observance of traditional rites.

“During the curfew hours, all movement is strictly prohibited, and residents are strongly advised to remain indoors for their safety.

“We appeal to all residents especially non-indigenes to cooperate fully with this directive, in respect for our customs and to maintain public order.

“Thank you for your understanding and compliance.”

The Eagle Online recalls that the Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, died on July 13, 2025 at the age of 91.

However, Alebiosu did not state if the Oro curfew was in relation to the death of Adetona.
