Incarcerated music mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is seeking a pardon from President Donald Trump, according to one of his lawyers.
Diddy, who is to be sentenced in October following his conviction on prostitution-related charges, is hoping to get pardoned amid conversations between his team and Trump.
Speaking with CNN in an interview, Diddy’s lawyer Nicole Westmoreland said, “It’s my understanding that we’ve reached out and had conversations in reference to a pardon.”
However, Trump has indicated that he may not grant the request.
“I was very friendly with him. I got along with him great, and he seemed like a nice guy. I didn’t know him well, but when I ran for office, he was very hostile,” he told Newsmax.
Responding to a question about not being inclined to pardon Diddy, the president stated, “I would say so, yeah.”
Diddy was found guilty of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, each of which carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.
He was acquitted of racketeering and sex trafficking charges and his sentencing has been scheduled for October 3.
