Nigerian filmmaker and music entrepreneur Abdulrasheed Bello, popularly known as JJC Skillz, is basking in the success of his directorial debut, Hakeem: Seeking Justice, which grossed an impressive N23 million in its opening weekend at Nigerian cinemas.
Expressing his excitement and appreciation, JJC Skillz said: “To God be the glory! Hakeem: Seeking Justice is officially the highest-grossing Nollywood film of the week. Thank you to everyone who came out to watch. We’re grateful for your incredible support. Let’s keep the momentum. This movie is a blockbuster in the making. It’s a new day for Nollywood.”
Hakeem: Seeking Justice premiered nationwide on August 1 and follows the gripping journey of Hakeem, a former special forces operative who embarks on a quest for justice following the tragic loss of his family. The film boasts a star-studded cast including Deyemi Okanlawon, Chioma Chukwuka, Zubby Michael, Gabriel Afolayan, Bolanle Ninalowo, Regina Daniels, Ali Nuhu, Liquorose, Skales, and White Money. It was co-written by JJC Skillz and Leo Oji, and co-produced with Mustapha Mamudu under the banner of Afristar Studios. Distribution is handled by FilmOne Entertainment.
Speaking about the project, JJC Skillz described it as “more than a story,” calling it a bold statement for justice, healing, and transformation. The strong box office opening sets a promising tone for what may become one of Nollywood’s standout films of the year.
