Lamido Demands PDP Expel Wike, Ortom, Ikpeazu Over Alleged Anti-Party Activities

Former Jigawa State governor, Sule Lamido, has called on the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to expel the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike; former Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom; and former Abia State governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, over alleged acts of sabotage against the party.

Lamido, who spoke during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday, accused the trio of openly campaigning for the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the 2023 elections and vowing to work for the ruling party ahead of the 2027 polls.

“All those erring members, the Wikes, the Ortoms, the Ikpeazus and others, who openly campaigned against the PDP in 2023 and have declared for the APC in 2027, should be sacked from the party,” he declared.

The former foreign affairs minister lamented what he described as a deep-rooted culture of impunity in the PDP, saying the leadership had allowed members to violate the party’s constitution without consequence for over 18 months.

According to him, many politicians within the party are “platform seekers” driven solely by personal ambition rather than commitment to the PDP’s ideology.

“There is a difference between those seeking a platform to pursue personal interests and members who genuinely believe in the PDP.

“If anyone feels the party won’t serve their ambition, they can leave. But they must not undermine the party from within,” Lamido said.

He recalled that internal sabotage began as far back as the 2022 primaries when some members turned against the party after failing to secure their preferred positions.
