The Ogun State Government on Monday, sealed off the sprawling Asoludero Court, the Conference Hotels, and its annex in the Sagamu Government Reserved Area, barely three days after issuing contravention and quit notices to the management of the properties linked to former governor, Senator Gbenga Daniel.

Officials of the Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority, Sagamu Zonal Office, stormed the premises at about mid-morning, pasting fresh “Sealing” and “Demolition” notices on the gates and walls of the multi-billion-naira facilities.

The action coincided with the departure of journalists who had just covered a press conference held within the Asoludero Court premises, where the earlier government notices were denounced.

The dramatic move — witnessed by reporters — has escalated tensions between the state government and the former governor, now representing Ogun East in the Senate.

PLATFORM TIMES observed that the two notices — for sealing and demolition — bore the same date and were pasted at the same time, against the state’s urban development regulations.

One of the notices read in part: “Sequel to our previous Notice of Contravention, Notice to Stop Work, and Notice to Quit served on you/the development, to which you have not responded, your development/property is hereby sealed off forthwith preparatory for its demolition.

Please note that the Authority will not be liable for any loss suffered by you or claim for compensation whatsoever during the period the property/development is under seal. You are warned not to break the seal or tamper with it in any way whatsoever.”

The Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority had, last Friday, issued a Notice of Contravention citing alleged breaches of the Ogun State Urban and Regional Planning and Development Law No. 61 of 2022 and its subsidiary regulations.

The notice ordered the owners or occupants to produce all relevant planning permits within 24 hours or face demolition.

The government also directed that the land be restored to its original state if the alleged contravention was not addressed within the stipulated time.

In addition, a notice to quit gave the property owners three days to vacate, warning that valuables should be removed to avoid damage during the “impending demolition.” The Authority stressed it would bear no responsibility for any losses or damages.
