Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, on Monday dissolved the State Executive Council, relieving several commissioners and special advisers of their duties with immediate effect.
The decision, contained in a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Habibat Adubiaro, directed all affected officials to hand over to the permanent secretaries or the most senior civil servants in their respective ministries, departments and agencies.
While thanking the sacked officials for their service, Oyebanji wished them success in their future endeavours.
However, the shake-up spares six commissioners — those in charge of Justice (Attorney-General), Health, Education, Works, Agriculture and Trade — as well as special advisers on Special Education and Social Inclusion, and on Lands, Survey and e-GIS.
Also unaffected are three directors-general: Office of Transformation and Service Delivery; Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Project Monitoring; and the Bureau of Public Procurement.
Government sources hinted that the dissolution is part of an administrative restructuring ahead of new policy directions.
