Rite Foods Limited, a food and beverage brand, has once again placed the spotlight on the country’s young people as it joined the global community to celebrate International Youth Day (IYD).

This year’s theme, “Local Youth Actions for the SDGs and Beyond,” resonates deeply with the company’s long-standing commitment to empowering Nigeria’s vibrant youth population through creativity, innovation, and capacity-building initiatives.

For Rite Foods, the celebration goes beyond symbolism — it is a reaffirmation of its belief that the nation’s future rests heavily on the shoulders of its youth and their ability to translate the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into meaningful, local impact. The company has consistently invested in platforms that give young people the tools, opportunities, and exposure they need to thrive, both within its own workforce and across communities nationwide.

Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Seleem Adegunwa, underscored this vision, noting that achieving the SDGs depends on how well young people are integrated into community-level action. He pointed to several of the company’s youth-focused programmes, including the Ijebu Heritage Half Marathon, automotive showcases like Fanfaro and TOR’Q Autofest, and musical talent discovery through its five-season sponsorship of Nigerian Idol.

“These platforms don’t just entertain; they equip young Nigerians with mentorship, visibility, and life-changing opportunities,” Adegunwa said.

“Our vision aligns with the spirit of International Youth Day, recognising youths as catalysts for innovation, progress, and societal transformation.”

The company’s youth engagement efforts are matched by its industry recognition. Earlier this year, Rite Foods received the prestigious ‘Food Company of the Year 2024’ award at the Independent Media Awards, reaffirming its leadership in quality and innovation. Its product range — from the 13 refreshing Bigi Carbonated Soft Drink variants and Bigi Premium Drinking Water to the flavourful Sosa Fruit Drink in five varieties, the bold Fearless Energy Drink, and the iconic Rite Spicy Beef and Bigi Beef Sausage Rolls — continues to set benchmarks in Nigeria’s fast-moving consumer goods sector.
