The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) has said that those calling for the removal of the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Felix Ogbe are acting out of greed and envy.
The IYC maintained that such persons are pursuing personal interest rather than the collective good of the Niger Delta region, saying their antics will not succeed.
Its President, Dr. Theophilus Alaye in a statement issued Sunday said it has come to the notice of the Council that certain selfish and disgruntled individuals are making unpatriotic calls for the removal of Ogbe.Alaye added: “It has come to our notice that certain selfish and disgruntled individuals are making unpatriotic calls for the removal of Engr. Ogbe.“Let it be categorically stated that such persons are acting out of greed, envy, and narrow personal interest, rather than the collective good of the Niger Delta region.
Their antics will not succeed.”Alaye pointed out that Ogbe has proven his competence by expanding opportunities for local contractors and service providers; Promoting industrial growth and capacity development in host communities;Strengthening Nigerian content compliance in the oil and gas sector and opening avenues for employment and empowerment of Niger youths. He noted: “These achievements cannot be undermined by the selfish plots of a few detractors.
The IYC Worldwide therefore warns those calling for his removal to desist henceforth.”Alaye, therefore, called on President Bola Tinubu and all relevant authorities to ignore these baseless agitations. He said the Ijaw nation and the entire Niger Delta stand united in defense of a man whose policies continue to give hope to our youths and drive sustainable development.
