MTN Nigeria has announced that customers in parts of Adamawa, Borno, and Kano states will experience temporary service disruption on Saturday, August 24, 2025, due to a planned network maintenance exercise.

The telecoms operator said the work will involve switching traffic to a newly installed fiber infrastructure along the AFCOT–Bawo Village route in Adamawa State. The upgrade, according to MTN, is intended to permanently replace damaged fiber spans and improve overall network stability in the region.

The exercise will affect 101 sites across 15 local government areas (LGAs), including Nasarawa LGA in Kano State; Girei, Song, Mubi North, Hong, Gombi, Fufore, Mubi South, Madagali, Michika, Maiha, Chibok, and Yola North in Adamawa State; as well as Askira/Uba and Shani LGAs in Borno State.

The disruption will last for about two hours between 6:00 am and 8:00 am, impacting 2G, 3G, 4G and enterprise services. MTN explained that the work will be carried out during daylight hours for security reasons, given the linear and unprotected nature of the fiber route.

“We regret any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate our customers’ understanding as we work to improve service quality and reliability,” the company said in a statement.

MTN assured subscribers that once the maintenance is completed, network performance in the affected areas will be significantly strengthened.
