Digitvant Microfinance Bank has introduced a low-cost health insurance package for its customers as part of efforts to expand financial inclusion and ease the burden of medical expenses.

Speaking at the bank’s maiden Customers’ Open Day in Lagos on Thursday, the Chairman, Kayode Oluwagboye, said the initiative was designed to strengthen the bank’s bond with its clients.

Oluwagboye who was represented by the Group Head of Corporate Communications and Branding, Petra Onyegbule noted “We want our customers to be in good health so that their accounts can also be in good health, and the state of our finances can be in good health,” Onyegbule stated.

“It is not when they need health services that they should start looking for money. Sometimes when you need it the most, money becomes elusive.”

Beyond the health plan, the bank used the forum to reiterate its commitment to customer-driven services. Onyegbule stressed that Digitvant’s approach goes beyond financial transactions:

“We are about humanity. We put empathy into our services. That is why we have called them together today to express themselves and as a bank that has their  in mind, we are committed to addressing every of their concerns.”

The new Health Maintenance Organisation (HMO) plan offers individual cover at N40,000 annually, payable in monthly installments of about N3,350 and a family package for four at N160,000. According to the bank, the scheme gives customers access to over 500 hospitals across Lagos and other locations, covering consultations, tests, treatment for common illnesses, and even surgeries.

Explaining further, representatives of Trailblazers Insurance, a subsidiary of Digitvant, Oloche Oche, noted: “There is nobody here that has not spent money today. But the question is, do you see how much you spend, and what is left in your bank account? If you fall sick, hospital bills can wipe out your savings. This plan ensures that even with N3,350 monthly, you and your family can access healthcare without financial stress.”

Head of Business Development, Digitvant, Samuel Alade, highlighted the bank’s lending model tailored for small businesses. He said Digitvant offers working capital loans, loan-backed investment products, and education loans at competitive rates. “Our default rate is less than 0.5 per cent because we know our customers and design loans to suit their capacity,” he explained.

Customers present at the forum commended the bank’s efforts. One participant, Pamilerin Sanni, said: “They have been doing well despite being new. Their savings, loan services and customer attention are commendable, and they have assured us they will keep improving.”

Managing Director of Digitvant Microfinance Bank, Florence Ogunyamoju, described the Open Day as a milestone in deepening collaboration with clients. “We co-create with our customers. We want to hear what they want, then go back and design products that fill those gaps. Your happiness is our continuity,” she said.

Ogunyamoju noted that Digitvant, which secured its microfinance license in May 2024, said it is positioning itself as a customer-first institution, promising to outpace rivals through empathy-driven banking, flexible loans, and integrated social welfare services such as the newly launched health insurance.
