Stanbic IBTC Insurance Limited, a subsidiary of Stanbic IBTC Holdings, has reassured its retirees of being their partner for life and committed to ensuring that their post-work years are filled with security, purpose, and joy, even as they navigate through the torrent of Nigeria’s economic reality.
The company reaffirmed its dedication to enhancing the quality of life for retirees during its 2025 edition of its annuitant forum.
Themed “Making the Most of Life in Retirement”, the virtual gathering brought together annuitants from across Nigeria for an engaging and insightful dialogue on how to maximise opportunities in retirement.
The annual annuitant forum serves as a platform for Stanbic IBTC Insurance to connect directly with its annuitant clients, providing guidance, inspiration, and practical advice to help them navigate their old age. This year’s edition was designed to inspire them to safeguard their financial well-being and also to embrace holistic fulfilment – physically, emotionally, and socially, in retirement.
Speaking during the event, Akinjide Orimolade, Chief Executive, Stanbic IBTC Insurance, reiterated the company’s commitment to being a trusted partner in every retiree’s journey. He said, “Our mission is to help our annuitants make the most of this chapter, not just financially but in every aspect of their lives. Through forums like this, we reaffirm our role as partners in their well-being.”
The discussions explored topics relevant to modern-day retirees, including maintaining financial stability in a changing economy, embracing healthy lifestyle practices, setting up Wills, and Estate Planning. Attendees were encouraged to approach retirement as a season of reinvention – one where purpose and passion can be redefined.
Participants also had the opportunity to share personal experiences, exchange practical tips, ask direct questions about their annuity products, and broaden retirement planning needs. This two-way engagement underscored Stanbic IBTC Insurance’s client-focused approach, ensuring that retirees feel heard, valued, and empowered to make informed decisions.
The Stanbic IBTC Insurance Annuitant Forum is one of the many touch points through which it strengthens its relationship with clients, offering them tools, knowledge, and encouragement to thrive. The company continues to innovate its client engagement initiatives, reinforcing its reputation as a thought leader in the insurance sector.
Meanwhile, a retiree who pleaded anonymous expressed satisfaction with the insurer, however urged the company to honor its words and do better as it promises. At the same time, the retiree expressed dissatisfaction over the plights of some retirees across the country who are passing through excruciating times due to the scorching economic condition.
This, he said following reported recent protests across Nigeria by some pensioners’ associations -like the Nigerian police retirees. He implored employers of labour, PenCom, pension funds administrators, operators, managers and custodians and other strategic stakeholders in the pension sector to find sustainable but profitable ground and harmonize issues raised by retirees, all in an effort to ameliorate the worsening situation of these old citizens.
“If we don’t respect our old citizens, what do you think the younger generation would be doing right now? The way and manner old citizens are ill -treated for many years ago – both at state and federal government level, are being recorded by young Nigerians. These are the kind of things that breeds corruption among employees, whether in the private or public sector. But we can do better, I wish my comrades and compatriots well” he added.
