NELFUND Tasks Tertiary Institutions On Faster Verification To Ease Student Loan Disbursement

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has urged tertiary institutions across the country to quicken their verification processes, warning that delays are stalling the disbursement of loans to thousands of student beneficiaries.

The Fund, in a statement signed by its Director of Strategic Communications, Mrs. Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, said it had been inundated with complaints from applicants who lamented that the slow pace of verification by their institutions was preventing them from accessing tuition fees and upkeep allowances.

“Timely verification and approval of successfully completed and submitted applications is a critical step in ensuring that students get their funds when due,” NELFUND stated.

“By prioritising this process, institutions will help loan beneficiaries avoid unnecessary setbacks in paying their fees.”

The agency reassured students of its commitment to efficient service delivery but emphasised that it cannot complete disbursements without prompt institutional cooperation.

In a related development, NELFUND announced the relocation of its headquarters from its temporary site to a permanent office in Abuja.

Effective September 5, 2025, the Fund said all correspondence and enquiries would be received at House 12, Plot 103/104, Monrovia Street, Wuse 2, opposite Bon Hotel, Abuja.

According to the statement, the relocation would not disrupt its operations or slow down its services.

“NELFUND remains fully operational and committed to its mandate of providing affordable education loans and support to Nigerian students across the country,” the statement added.

The Fund encouraged stakeholders to continue engaging it through its official communication channels, including its social media handles and website.
