Interswitch, Cambridge students explore Africa’s fintech future

Interswitch Group has hosted a delegation of Executive MBA students from the University of Cambridge Judge Business School (CJBS) at its Victoria Island headquarters in Lagos.

The visit, part of the students’ Nigeria Trek, offered the delegation a closer look at Interswitch’s 23-year journey in building Africa’s payments infrastructure and advancing financial inclusion. Discussions centered on the company’s evolution from a transaction switch to a diversified technology enterprise, and the wider opportunities within the continent’s digital economy.

Welcoming the delegation, Interswitch Founder and Group Managing Director, Mitchell Elegbe, highlighted the importance of cross-border collaboration in driving sustainable innovation. He noted that exchanges like this provide mutual learning and spotlight Africa’s role in shaping the future of global fintech.

Other company executives, including Chief Customer Officer Oremeyi Akah and Executive Vice President, Group Marketing and Communications, Cherry Eromosele, also engaged with the visitors, sharing perspectives on governance, operational excellence, and growth strategies.

The visit follows Elegbe’s earlier engagement at Cambridge Judge Business School to strengthen ties and explore collaborative opportunities.
