The Concerned Nigerian Consumers has expressed concern over alleged plans by Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) to picket Dangote Refinery.
The forum, in a statement by Olabisi Taiwo, President, and Justice Akani Alikor, president and secretary respectively, charged the Federal Government and security agencies to wade into the issue.
It argued that the threat by PENGASSAN to picket Dangote Refinery over alleged sack of some workers is capable to cause fuel scarcity, economic instability, and national embarrassment.
The group, while urging the labour union to embrace dialogue and prioritize national interest, stated energy needs of citizens must be taken into consideration.
“Who benefits if the refinery fails?Certainly not the Nigerian people, but fuel importers and rent seekers who profit from chaos.”
“The government must send a clear message: industrial blackmail will not be tolerated. Nigerians have suffered enough from fuel queues and economic hardship. The Dangote Refinery is our best chance at energy independence, and we must not allow vested interests to destroy it.”
