Crescent University, Abeokuta, has appointed Professor Rasaki Olufemi Kareem as its new Deputy Vice Chancellor.
The announcement was made on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at the university’s Senate Chamber by the Registrar, Barr. Zakariyya Ademola Ajibola, who conveyed the decision on behalf of the Vice Chancellor. He noted that the appointment will officially take effect on October 1, 2025.
Prof. Kareem, a professor of Resource and Development Economics, joined the services of Crescent University in 2009 as Lecturer II and rose through the ranks to attain professorship in 2022.
An accomplished scholar and administrator, he has held several key positions within the institution, including Head of the Department of Economics, Dean of Students’ Affairs, Acting Dean of the College of Arts, Social and Management Sciences, and Dean of the School of Postgraduate Studies.
He has also chaired various strategic committees such as the Results Vetting Committee, Admissions Committee, and Taskforce on Staff and Discipline, among others.
His contributions have been pivotal in maintaining academic excellence, student discipline, and successful National Universities Commission (NUC) accreditations for the institution.
With over 70 undergraduate projects and 20 postgraduate theses supervised, Prof. Kareem boasts an impressive academic record, supported by more than 70 publications in local and international journals.
According to AD Scientific Index, his works in entrepreneurship, economic analysis, and monetary and fiscal policy have earned him more than 900 citations on Google Scholar.
Members of the Crescent University community have since poured in congratulatory messages, describing Prof. Kareem’s appointment as well-deserved recognition of his years of commitment, discipline, and service to the institution.
