President Bola Tinubu on Saturday vowed that his administration would continue to protect Nigerians from poverty, unemployment, and terrorism, stressing that insecurity cannot be solved through military action alone.

Speaking at the passing-out parade of Cadets of the 72 Regular Course, Short Service Course 48, and Direct Short Service Course in Kaduna, Tinubu—represented by Senate President Godswill Akpabio—said his government was pursuing a holistic approach that addresses the economic and social factors fuelling insecurity.

He said, “My administration has remained unrelenting in our resolve to provide a holistically safe society for all our citizens by implementing programmes and policies that empower Nigerians to combat poverty, criminality, and terrorism.

We recognise that no amount of kinetic effort of our armed forces and other security agencies will guarantee the safety of our people if other key drivers of insecurity, such as poverty, unemployment, poor innovation and general economic and social disintegration, have not been tackled.”

Tinubu explained that beyond strengthening the armed forces, his government had placed emphasis on job creation, macroeconomic stability, human capital development, improved investment climate, and social security schemes.

He also linked these policies to his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda and the 4D Diplomacy Strategy, which, according to him, is designed to promote democracy, drive economic development, harness Nigeria’s demographic strength, and engage the diaspora.

The President maintained that these initiatives would reposition Nigeria as a prime global investment hub and ensure long-term peace and stability.

“This way, Nigeria will experience the transformative strides that would reposition our country as a prime global investment destination,” he added.
