The Deputy Minority Leader of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Lukmon Atobatele, has declared that his style of representation is driven by service to the people rather than political titles, stressing that his record of achievements speaks to his commitment to the grassroots.

Atobatele, who spoke through his media team, said his guiding principle has been to remain “a man of the people,” a pledge he noted has reflected in several life-transforming projects spread across Abeokuta and beyond under his legislative interventions and the Lukmon Atobatele Development Foundation (LADEF).

According to him, his empowerment initiatives cut across agriculture, healthcare, education, infrastructure, scholarships, and youth development.

He revealed that over 500 youths have so far been trained in modern farming techniques, hydroponics, and farm management in partnership with The Soilless Farm Lab. Farmers in his constituency, he added, have also benefitted from free distribution of fertilizers and farm inputs to boost food production and reduce hunger.

On healthcare, Atobatele listed the successful completion of 91 free surgeries for indigent residents of Abeokuta—including hernia, cataract, and breast lump removals—in collaboration with Lekfad Medical Centre. He disclosed that 134 traditional rulers, comprising Egba Chiefs and Baales, were also enrolled in health insurance schemes to guarantee sustainable access to medical services.

In the education sector, the lawmaker said he had remodeled classrooms at Baptist School and Moshood Abiola School while also constructing a new block of classrooms with staff offices to improve learning conditions.

Similarly, he noted that 53 students are currently on his scholarship scheme, aimed at relieving parents of financial burdens.

Other community-focused interventions, according to him, include the construction of a concrete road at Oke Abetu, provision of N1 million to energize the transformer at Idi Oya Kemta Extension, and the sponsorship of football tournaments to promote youth talent and unity.

Atobatele added that partnerships with NGOs, including the Mercy Said No Foundation, have helped extend relief materials and healthcare services to vulnerable households.

Emphasizing that leadership should be defined by service, not titles, he said:

“Deputy Minority Leader is just a nomenclature. Titles will come and go, but my greatest fulfillment is in being remembered as a leader who touched lives, created opportunities, and gave his people a reason to believe in government once again.”
