As the BBNaija Season 10 ends today, organisers have revealed a final twist: the grand prize has been reduced to ₦80 million after a series of in-house deductions and earnings from housemates’ activities.
The revelation came during Sunday’s tense live briefing at the lounge, where host Big Brother detailed the financial ledger for the remaining housemates.
Originally set at a record-breaking ₦150 million, the highest in the show’s 19-year history, the prize pool was adjusted based on decisions made throughout the 10-week competition, which premiered on July 26 and 27.
Key deductions included a ₦10 million hit from housemate Kaybobo’s purchase of immunity during the dramatic “Red Phone Twist.”
In that twist, which aired on September 22, Kaybobo accepted a confidential offer from “Agent X” to secure a guaranteed spot in the finale, directly slashing the pot.
Additional costs originated from personal requests, including Koyin’s family visit and hair styling session, which organisers confirmed incurred further expenses against the collective prize.
On the earnings side, housemates offset some losses through successful tasks and challenges, including Sips & Strokes (₦6.5m), Walking on Eggshells (₦2.6m), Big Brother’s Bakery (₦800k), Bodycare Products (₦2.6m), Big Brother’s Daycare (₦3.5m), and Splash & Dash (₦2.48m).
Big Brother reminded housemates that every comfort, reward, or luxury inside the house came at a cost, which elicited laughter and gasps among the finalists.
However, the atmosphere soon turned lighthearted as Big Brother revealed that shawarma orders, a three-day luxury experience for Joanna and Dede, and other small indulgences also ate into the prize fund.
A reminder that Kola turned down a free pedicure and manicure session also intrigued housemates.
Big Brother’s revelation has added an interesting twist to the show, as fans await with bated breath the crowning of the ultimate winner later today.
